Ronnie’s Obituary Ronnie Melvin Schnakenberg, 47, of Cole Camp, died Saturday, January 5, 2019, at his home after a serious illness of idiopathic pancreatitis. He was born on November 14, 1971, in Sedalia, Missouri, a son of Melvin Claus and ElVera Marie (Oelrichs) Schnakenberg. He grew up in Cole Camp, where he was baptized on November 28, 1971, by Rev.

Gary Clayton and confirmed on May 4, 1986, by Rev. Harvey Hendrickson at Trinity Lutheran Church. He graduated eighth grade from the Lutheran School and graduated in 1990 from Cole Camp High School.

In 1990, he enlisted in the United States Army. He completed basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina, and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. After his studies and combat medic training, he was shipped to Korea where he spent the next 13 months patrolling the demilitarized zone with US Army Garrison at Fort Carson, South Korea.

He was then stationed at Fitz Simmons Hospital in Denver, Colorado, working in the ambulance division. Ronn loved camping in the Colorado mountains and met his future wife while on a camping trip. The couple moved to Cole Camp and on December 11, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cole Camp, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Candilynn (English) Janes.

From 2006 – 2007, he attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia studying business management and worked as a certified nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan Care Center in Cole Camp, Golden Age Living Center in Stover, Warsaw Health and Rehabilitation, and Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia. In 2008, they moved back to Colorado, where he worked as a security specialist at the Denver International Airport. In February of 2017, after he became ill, they moved back to Cole Camp.

Ronn had a passion for target shooting and reloading his own ammunition. He had a warm heart and a wicked sense of humor. Ronn would be the first one to volunteer his time if someone needed help and was deeply loved by his family and friends.

Anyone who met Ronn would be able to share a story of his witty comebacks, laughter, and his funny personality and will be greatly missed. He is survived by: his wife Candie Schnakenberg of the home; his mother and step-father, ElVera and Don Zimmerschied of Mora; his step-children, Annie Krutsch and Josh and Amanda Detling and Robbie of both of Colorado, and Anthony Janes of the home; his sister, Jean Jett and Danny of Belton; his brothers, Jim Schnakenberg and Roberta of Warsaw and Dennis Schnakenberg and Ellen of Unionville; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Melvin Schnakenberg.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with Pastor Gregory R. Truwe officiating with military honors by the American Legion Post No. 305 and where the family will receive friends beginning at 4:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 11, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Cole Camp. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Trinity Lutheran Cemetery or American Legion Post No.

305 in care of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp. Pallbearers will be Alex Jett, Zach Jett, Kurt Schnakenberg, Karl Schnakenberg, Anthony Janes, and Robbie Detling. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristen and Kenneth Hill, Amanda Detling, Annie Krutsch, Elizabeth and Chris Henderson, Aaron and Christie Schnakenberg, Stephanie Jett, and Leah Schnakenberg.
