Roscoe “Ross” Carter, 63, of Matthews, NC, died unexpectedly on Sunday, February 2, 2019, doing one of the many things he loved to do, riding his motorcycle. Roscoe was born in Lima, Ohio, on June 13, 1955, one of 13 children born to William and Mildred Carter. He grew up on Lima then moved to Florida where his son, Jesse, was born.

On the flip of a quarter, he and his family moved to Charlotte, where his daughter, Bobbi-June, was born. A colorful character, he was never afraid to call it as he saw it and left a legacy of laughter and classic lines. He was known to say, “Gotta be smarter than your feet to walk on them, boy”.

Some of the other things he enjoyed were NASCAR and Budweiser. Gifted with working with his hands, Roscoe could do all kinds of work with drywall and construction and for years operated “No One’s Slicker” Roscoe’s Drywall. Most of all, Roscoe loved the time spent with family and friends.

He left them all with the gift of laughter and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Roscoe is survived by his son, Jesse (wife Robin) Carter of Monroe; his daughter Bobbi-June Carter of Charlotte; their mother, Michelle Steffen of Charlotte; and siblings of Lima, Ohio: Barbara Lawrence, Rick Carter, Ronnie Carter, and Michael Carter. Roscoe is further survived by Ethan, his “little porkchop”; Dewayne Brittain, his best friend of many years and riding partner; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home has been given the privilege of caring for Roscoe and his family. A service honoring the life, love and blessing of this wonderful man led by Mr. Michael Neddo will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 9th, 2019, with visitation starting at 1 pm until time of service.
