Rose Anne Porter, 69, of Augusta, Maine, passed away Thursday, April 19, peacefully at home with her husband Peter Porter, after a long battle with cancer. Rose was born in Gardiner, Maine, May 28, 1948 to Francis Melivin Perry and Dorothy Sophia Thornton, both of Gardiner, Maine. After high school Rose had several jobs, which included Bernard’s Foodland, Augusta School Department and Sam’s Club.

Rose had a love for the coast, especially in late summer, and always looked forward to trips to places such as; Bailey’s Island, Smalls Falls in Rangeley, and Rockland. Some of Rose’s favorite memories include time spent with family, and special heartfelt holidays. In her past time she enjoyed quilt making, reading and puzzles.

Family was most important to Rose, her greatest accomplishments were; finding her perfect mate and soulmate Peter; the pride of her wonderful son; her talented stepson; and the special people she had the privilage to work with. Rose is survived by, her husband Peter Porter; her son Scott Corbin and daughter-in-law Nelia Corbin; her step-son Chad Porter and partner Mary Cadman; sister-in-law Sharon Gray; cousins Donald and Patricia Goggin, Dora Hawk; aunts Janice Kelman, Hilda Whitmore and Gertrude Lombard. She is pre-deceased by; father Francis Perry, mother Dorothy Thornton and cousin Dewey Goggin.

Rose’s family would like to thank Maine General Hospital and the hospice care provided to her. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Harold Alfond Center and or The Hospice Care Team at Maine General Hospital.
