Kenneth Anthony Percival, Sr, 75, of Gardiner went to be with his Lord on Thursday, May 3, 2018 surrounded by his family at the Togus Springs Hospice Unit at the Veterans Facility. He was born in Manhattan, NY on March 15, 1943 a son of Clifton M. Percival and Mildred (Danzig) Percival. Kenneth grew up in the home of his Uncle Keith Percival and wife Gilberta, and his He truly appreciated them and his two cousins Alan Percival and Marianne Percival Thorpe.
He graduated from Erskine Academy as class valedictorian, he attended Florida University and graduated from DeVry University in Chicago. He served our nation for 6 years in the US Army. He was a lab technician and a supply clerk and then following in the steps of his grandfather he became an electrician.
Kenneth worked in the electrical department at BIW for 29 years. Ken fulfilled a calling to the mission field to Brazil with his wife June where he initially helped Pastor Donald Barber and his wife Marjorie. Within in a very short time he was ordained as a Deacon and a year later as a Pastor.
He taught in homes, under trees, on the hills, and in the valleys, doing up to 8 services a week until he was no longer able. Through his efforts, two churches were built in Brazil. He shared the gospel message wherever he went.
He prayed daily for his family that he missed terribly while he was away in Brazil. He also prayed for the people of Brazil every single day. Kenneth is predeceased by his Brother Louis R. Percival -Danzig.
He is survived by his wife June Anne (Benoit) Percival, His brother Lawrence Percival, of Miami Florida, and 7 children. His children include: Kenneth Anthony Percival JR, his wife Maribel and granddaughter Katie Noel and grandson Ian, Jeffery Keith Percival, Deborah Usher Brown, her husband Frank and granddaughter Miranda Dill, her husband Kevin and soon to be born great granddaughter, and grandson Benjamin Brown and his fiancé Anne Tobias Heidi Usher Mansir and her husband Peter, and grandson Ryan Mansir and wife Heather, great Granddaughter Ella and great grandson Wyatt. And, Grandson Joshua Mansir, his wife Caitlin and great granddaughter Finley.
Daniel Usher and his wife Cathy, and granddaughter Amanda Wooster, great granddaughter Olivia and great grandson Kamden. Granddaughter Grace Usher, and great grandsons Cooper and Austin. And, Grandson Daniel Usher Jr. Derek Usher and his wife Stacy, and granddaughter Kayla Usher, her Fiancé Trey and Great grandchildren Aiden, Clayton, and Karson.
And, granddaughter Brittany Usher and her partner Tyler. Leroy Usher and his wife Tammy, and grandson Jacob Usher and his partner Becca and daughter Aurea. Samantha Usher, and Summer Usher, her Fiancé Luke and great granddaughter Evelyn.
Kenneth enjoyed photography, mathematics, science and technology. He loved history and geography, both national and biblical. Spending time with his children and grandchildren was important to him.
He also enjoyed skiing, a good meal and a good nap! He had a positive attitude, a great sense of humor and, he taught by example. Kenneth will be greatly missed!
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday May 8th from 6 to 8pm at Staples Funeral Home 53 Brunswick Ave Gardiner. Committal service with military honors will be held Thursday May 17th at 10am at the chapel in the New Maine Veterans Cemetery 163 Mt Vernon Rd Augusta.
