Roy’s Obituary Roy Baars Stroop, 90, a resident of Singers Glen, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mr. Stroop was born on November 30, 1928 in Singers Glen, and was the son of the late Lewis and Gertrude Sheldon Fulk Stroop. He served in the United States Army receiving three bronze stars.

He was employed by Metro Pants, Hartz, and retired from Rockingham Poultry Plant in Timberville in 1995. He loved old cars, camping and word search puzzles. He was a member of Donovan Memorial United Methodist Church.

On June 6, 1955, he married the former Margie Ann Hill who passed away on October 2, 2011. Surviving are his children, Vickie Stroop Stultz and husband Carl of Rockingham, Roy “R. B” Stroop II and wife Julie of Weyers Cave; sisters, Rachel Whetzel, Ruby Patterson, Donna Cubbage, and Shirley Keister; grandchildren, Chad Stultz (Cassie Hess), Jade Smith (Jamie Collins) , Ashley Stroop (Andrew Masincup), Blake Stroop, Justin Lambert (Stacy Johnson), Shalana Lambert (Corrie Wynn); and thirteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Stroop was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Stroop; brothers and sisters, Clarence Stroop, Glen Stroop, Lewis Stroop Jr., Mabel Stroop Whetzel, Frances Hill; and four half-brothers and one half-sister. Pastors Michael Shenk and Brian Bridges will conduct a funeral service on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Singers Glen Cemetery.

There will be a carry in meal following the burial at the Singers Glen Community Center (The old school). The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends may begin visiting the funeral home on Friday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Singers Glen Rescue Squad, PO Box 75, Singers Glen, Virginia 22850.
