Allen’s Obituary Allen Brubaker, 81, a resident of Harrisonburg, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Sentara RMH Medical Center. Allen was born on March 3, 1937 in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, where he grew up on a 165-acre farm in Conewago Township. He is the son of the late Charles E. and Etta G. Brubaker.

He is survived by his wife Erma R. Brubaker and four children; Martha, married to Ken Cuomo; Myron, married to Regina Slabach; and sons Brian and Michael. Allen was also blessed with nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Allen had a lifelong love for Jesus Christ and his church and spent all of his working life in mission work, radio broadcasts, Christian journalism, and church relations.

In his private life, he enjoyed gardening and outdoor recreation with his family. Even in retirement he continued his passion for service by volunteering at the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center and at the Gift and Thrift Store along Mt. Clinton Pike.

Allen especially enjoyed reunions with his ten siblings: Wilbur (deceased), married to Edna Tyson; Helen, married to Samuel Haldeman; Glenn, married to Josephine Tyson; Charles, married to Mary Weaver (deceased); Roy, married to Esther Heisey; Mildred, married to Jose’ Feliz; Mark, married to Ruth Myer; Nancy, married to James Fahnestock; Janet, married to Tony Rios (deceased); and Lois, married to Mervin Horst. Pastor Phil Kniss will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Park View Mennonite Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Valley Brethren-Mennonite Heritage Center (Crossroads), 1921 Heritage Center Way, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22801, or Virginia Mennonite Missions, 601 Parkwood Drive, Harrisonburg, Virginia 22802.
