Dorothy’s Obituary Dorothy May Lucas Smith, 91, formerly of Elkton, left her earthly home at Willow Estates on Sunday, May 19, 2019, to be with her Lord and Savior. A daughter of the late David. N. and Lily May Shomo Lucas, she was born on June 9, 1927, in Page County.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ray Smith, Sr. on September 19, 1996, and a son, Ervin Lee Smith on June 6, 1971. She was also preceded in death by a number of brothers and sisters. She is survived by five sons, Vernon R. Smith, Jr. and wife, Barbara, James Franklin “Frank” Smith and wife, Linda, Stephen L. Smith and wife, Emma, Bruce A. Smith and wife, Melissa, Billy G. Smith and wife, Susan; four sisters, Lottie Secrist, MaryAnn May, Ramona May and Alberta Morris; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild.

Dorothy was employed by Alliance Manufacturing Company for a number of years. Her passions included gardening, planting flowers, reading her bible and most of all, going to church and spreading the word of Jesus. Pastor Rick Robertson will conduct the funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Furnace United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow at the Koontz Cemetery in Page County. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Furnace United Methodist Church, 19836 Naked Creek Rd.
