Berlie’s Obituary Berlie Robert Hinkle, 74, of Harrisonburg, passed away on Monday February 4, 2019 at the Sentara RMH Medical Center. Mr. Hinkle was born on August 23, 1944 in Highland County and was a son of the late George Ray and Mary Ellen (Warner) Hinkle. Prior to his retirement due to illness, Berlie worked as a laborer and fork lift operator for Nielson Construction.

When he was able, Mr. Hinkle was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and camping and being in nature. He had a great sense of humor.

Berlie most enjoyed spending time with his family. On June 19, 1965 he married the former Carolyn Bond who survives. In addition to his wife, Mr. Hinkle is survived by his children, Carol Gooden and husband Roy of Harrisonburg, Wanda Hinkle and husband Roy of Mt.

Crawford, Robert Hinkle and wife Beverly of Harrisonburg, Jeremy Hinkle and wife Gabrielle of Harrisonburg; siblings, Carol Hinkle of Blue Grass, Dallie Hinkle of Bluegrass, Wilma Strawderman of Broadway; eight grandchildren, Jessica Kronk, Tara Hinkle Kenney, Amber Gooden, Miranda Wright, Samuel Gooden, Kylie Hinkle, Raileigh Wimer, Kayden Hinkle; six great-grandchildren, Rayna Kronk, Lillie Jones, Sophia Jones, Declan Kenney, Abby Wright, Ginger Wright; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jason Hinkle and Glenn Hinkle; and two sisters, Ruth Hinkle and Rosa Johnson. The funeral service will be held on Friday, February 8, 2019 at 11 am at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home with Pastor Kathleen Michael officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home. Friends may also visit the Hinkle home at any time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1477, Harrisonburg, VA 22803. Those wishing may share a memory or online condolence with the family by visiting www. mcmullenfh.com Arrangements entrusted to the McMullen Funeral Home.
