Ruby “Lou”‘s Obituary Ruby “Lou” Louise Klein, age 95 of New Ulm died peacefully on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm. Funeral service will be 11 am on Friday, February 22, 2019, at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm. Pastor JoAnne Taylor will officiate, and burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home-South Chapel in New Ulm and continue from 10-11 am on Friday at the church in New Ulm. To leave an online condolence for her family, or to sign the guestbook, go to: mvfh.org Lou is survived by her son, Dale Eyrich of Fort Dodge, Iowa; her daughters, Pat (Jim) Lueck of Eagle Lake, Karen (Ron) Matter of New Ulm, Debra (Lupe) Cedillo of New Ulm; grandchildren, Darren (Sarah) Eyrich, Paul (Shelby) Eyrich, Tony (Ashley) Lueck, Robert (Nicole) Lueck, Jesse (Cheryl) Matter, Nicole Matter, Jacob (Jessica) Matter, Cloe (Nick) Jones, Sophie Cedillo, Andrew Cedillo; twelve great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; her niece, Bev Ryan of La Crosse, Wisconsin; and nephew, Gordy (Sandy) Bellig of Sanborn. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Glenmore Eyrich in 1965; her second husband, Ruben Klein in 2001; daughter-in-law, Lena Eyrich in 2015; great-grandson, Awsten Eyrich in 2017; and sister, Catherine Curtis.
Ruby “Lou” Louise McFolin was born September 14, 1923 in Nashville, Tennessee to Obadiah and Lillian (Carlisle) McFolin. Lou grew up in Nashville, but later moved with her family to California. She was a 1941 graduate from Pomona High School in California.
While living in California, Lou met the love of her life, Glenmore on a cruise to Catalina Island while he was on leave. On April 16, 1944, Ruby was united in marriage to Glenmore Eyrich in New Ulm. The couple raised their son and three daughters in New Ulm where Lou worked from the home as a mother and home-maker, but also worked at the local Pamida.
Glenmore later passed in 1965. On April 15, 1972, Lou was united in marriage to Ruben Klein in New Ulm. He later passed in 2001.
There were a variety of hobbies that always brought Lou great joy in life. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in the summers tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Many cherished memories were made on camping trips over the years as well.
Lou could always find time to keep up with her reading with a faithful canine companion by her side. Lou was a member of the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm where she was an active volunteer with the church circle as well as with the Grey Ladies and the American Red Cross. Although Lou lived a long and beautiful life she will be forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Never to be forgotten were the many family gatherings where her warm smile, laughter, and grace could light up the room. Blessed be her memory.
