She was born in LaGrange County, Indiana of January 29, 1939 to the late Joas N. and Mary (Troyer) Troyer. Ruthie is a member of the Plainview Menonite Church and is preceded in death by her husband Herman M. Schmucker, brothers Laverne Bender, Elmer Bender, Anzie Troyer, Daniel Troyer and David Troyer, two sister Fannie Schlabach and Lydianna Kauffman, Son-In-Law Ray Troyer and two grandsons Faron Overholt and Derek Troyer.

She is survived by her: Two sons Lavern (Theresa Kauffman) Schmucker of Westminister, South Carolina and Paul David Schmucker of Auburn, Kentucky, four daughters Susie (Jonathan) Overholt of Boliver, Tennessee,Laura (David) Byler of Townsville, South Carolina, Erma (Joseph) Zook of Belleville, Pensylvania and Sharon Williams of Auburn, Kentucky, five brothers Willard Bender, Samuel Troyer, Johnnie Troyer, Orla Troyer and Perry Troyer, three sisters Barbara Lehman, Edna Wickey and Susie Hostetler, 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral Services for Ruthie Schmucker will be conducted Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. in the Plainview Menonite Church Gym with Luke Troyer officiating and burial to follow in the Plainview Menonite Church Cemetery. Visitation will begin Tuesday from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. in the Plainview Menonite Church Gym and Wednesday from 9:00 A.M. until funeral time at 10:00 A.M. Young Funeral Home Russellville Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
