Obituary for Samuel “Sonny” Bailey Sonny (Samuel) passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 in Payson, Arizona. He was born September 5, 1929 on a ranch between Menard and Ft. McKavett to Earl Vandorn Bailey and Alice Elizabeth Crisp.
Sonny worked for Goodyear Tire for 23 years. He was also a horse trainer and horse shoer. He was active with the San Angelo Rodeo Assoc and the San Angelo Saddle Club.
He loved working with children. He and Pat spent 4 ½ years as house parent’s for the West Texas Boys Ranch. Sonny enjoyed music and played in a band, “The Rovin Cowboy’s”.
He was married to Patsy Faye (Street) Bailey on July 30, 1951. They were married for 62 years. His greatest accomplishment is his family.
Sonny and Pat had three daughters, Judy Hutyra, Sue Christopher (Rod), and Kim Killion (Ferrell) and one son, Brent (Audra). Sonny has 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild on the way. Sonny’s faith in God is a comfort to his family.
Sonny had a sweet, gentle way of living his faith, not preaching it. There is no doubt that he is in Heaven looking down on all of us. Sonny had an infectious sense of humor.
Everyone has a story of some funny thing he has said or done. Even up to the end of his life, he was polite and funny. Sonny moved to Arizona last month to live with Brent and Audra.
