Obituary of Sharon Harbison Sharon S. Harbison, age 64, of Horseheads, NY died Thursday, December 27, 2018 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Sharon was born on February 28, 1954 in Warsaw, NY to Gardner Hobbs and Bessie (Rynearson) Parkhurst. She had a Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from Elmira College and was employed by Chemung County DDSO in direct care.

She married John Harbison on September 27, 2007 in Horseheads. She loved spending time in the garden, baking and traveling to new sites. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and family and devoted a lot of her time making memories with them.

She had a very generous heart and enjoyed taking care of others, including her four legged friends. Her strong faith and devotion to God poured into her everyday life and spent much of her time growing in faith and loving others. She is survived by her husband John “Jack” Harbison; daughters, Amber (Dwight) Karkan of Waynesboro, PA and Alicia (Andrew) Tammaro of Elmira; mother, Bessie Parkhurst of Painted Post; step daughters, Erin (Capil Sumair) Harbison of Bayside, NY and Megan (Jody) Davis of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Ellery, Ethan, Easton, Emilia, Selah, Sawyer, Delaney, and Hudson; two sisters, Irene Rumsey of Beaver Dams and Karen Garner of Pavilion, NY; brother, Robert (Joyce) Hobbs of Rathbone, NY; half sister, Lois Bennett of Montrose, PA; sister-in-law, Linda Hobbs of Bath; many nieces and nephews.

Sharon was predeceased by her half-brother, Kenneth Travis, brother, Earl Hobbs, stepdaughter, Jaclyn Harbison, brother, Richard Rynearson, and brother, Ronald Hobbs. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 4th from 2-4 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 4:00 PM. Burial will be in Lawrenceville Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Chemung County Humane Society, 2435 State Route 352, Elmira, NY 14903.
