Obituary of Timothy Lanahan Timothy J. Lanahan, age 78, formerly of Painted Post, NY, died Thursday, December 27, 2018, at his home in Big Flats, NY, following a joyous Christmas with his children and grandchildren. Tim had courageously battled Parkinson’s disease for 22 years. Tim was born on October 20, 1940, in Buffalo, NY, the second of five children of John Timothy and Jane (Miller) Lanahan.

Tim was a graduate of Corning Free Academy (1958) and attended Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. He spent his entire career at Corning Incorporated, retiring after 38 years as a project manager in the corporate data department.

He was an active communicant of All Saints Parish. In his earlier years, you might have heard him yell “Aroooo” on the ski slopes, and he was a competitive league bowler. An avid golfer his entire life, he made his best friends on the golf course at both Indian Hills and Corning Country Club, making more than one hole-in-one much to their chagrin.

He enjoyed playing with his beloved grandchildren and walking his dog and grand-dogs. He was a true gentleman and gentle man who loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Erin (Patrick) Dugan of Rexford, NY; son, Michael (Ellen) Lanahan of Corning; grandchildren, Timothy and Clara; sister, Barbara (George) Connors of Fairport, NY; brother, John “Ace” (Noreen) Lanahan of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arthur Stilwell of Painted Post, Adele Lanahan of Big Flats, Anthony (Jill) Agosta of Corning, Florence Agosta of Corning, Carmen (Patsy) Agosta of Huntersville, NC; and several cousins including Carol Sorkin of Syracuse.

He was affectionately known as Uncle Timmy to many (MANY) nieces and nephews. Tim was predeceased by his brother, Bryan Lanahan, and sister, Mary Ann Stilwell. Calling hours will be Wednesday, January 2nd from 3 – 6 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, January 3rd at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, 155 State Street in Corning. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Corning.
