Obituary for Mrs. Shirley C. Deering Shirley C. Deering, 97, Allouez, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Residence by Rennes with her family by her side. Shirley was born on December 17, 1921 in St. Paul Minnesota, the daughter of the late James and Nellie (Hardy) Croxford and was raised in Suamico. After she graduated from high school, she obtained her teaching certificate from the Kaukauna Rural Normal Teachers College and also took classes at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.

On September 2, 1948, she married Robert W. Deering. They had two wonderful children together, Scot and Nancy who were raised in a loving and caring home. Shirley taught school in Brown County for 8 years, then became a library technician for the Green Bay Public Schools retiring in 1990.

After her retirement she took a job as hostess at Green Bay Eye Clinic and absolutely loved dressing up to greet and talk to people. Shirley was a lifelong Packer’s fan and used to attend the games with her dad at the old City Stadium. She had a deep and abiding faith, with a heart of gold.

She always gave to others and was an awesome person. Shirley was always up for a new adventure and loved making memories with family and friends. Shirley is survived by her 2 children Scot (Sue) Deering, Nancy (Dr. Paul) Vander Kelen, 3 grandchildren Tricia, Scottie, Chris and 1 great-granddaughter Cassi.

Shirley left an imprint on so many people’s lives and leaves behind a true legacy of love and laughter to those that knew her. She was preceded in death by 1 brother, Warren. In addition, through the years she lost many special fur babies who crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Gathering of family and friends will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at New Hope United Methodist Church, 1950 Dickinson Road, De Pere. A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. at the church with Rev. Rebecca Voss officiating.

Entombment at Allouez Chapel Mausoleum. The family would like to offer a warm note of appreciation to the staff of Renaissance and the Residence by Rennes, for all of their loving care, concern and devotion shown to Shirley~ your kindness will never be forgotten. Also, a special thank you to Unity Hospice for your compassion.
