Mrs. Shirley Pearsall Coleman, 95, retired President of Coleman Farms Co., Inc., passed away Thursday, March 15, 2019, at McLeod Hospice House, Florence, after a brief illness. Mrs. Coleman was born August 30, 1923 in Goldsboro, NC, a daughter of the late Frank Pearsall and Ethel Maxwell Pearsall. Mrs. Coleman served as a civilian employee at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base during World War II, where she met her future husband, Robert Wesley Coleman.

She moved with him to his home in Pamplico after the war. During her long life, she was involved in many activities in the community, including serving on the Pamplico Town Council as Police Commissioner and a Commissioner for the Florence County Soil Conservation and Water Board. She was dedicated to her family, but her true passion was being “Grammy” to her adoring grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Claudia C. Dunlap of Salisbury, N.C., Robert W. “Bob” (Rita) Coleman, Jr., William A. “Trip” Coleman, III, both of Pamplico, and Deborah C. Marsh of Columbia, S.C., 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Mrs. Coleman was preceded in death by her parents and her sons-in-law, Jerry M. Marsh, III and Thomas Dunlap. Graveside services will be at 4:00 P.M., Sunday, March 17, 2019, at Prospect United Methodist Church Cemetery, Pamplico, directed by Carolina Funeral Home, Scranton.

A Reception will follow the service in the Prospect United Methodist Church Social Hall.
