Shirley Jane Norris, age 92, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2018 at Fountain View Manor, Granite City, IL. Shirley was born on August 14, 1926 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of the late Lloyd Howe and Beulah (Bay) Howe. On November 1, 1946, Shirley Howe married Clyde Norris, the love of her life, in East St. Louis, IL.

Clyde passed away on May 17, 2003. Shirley retired as a manager and accountant from Bellemoore Toys & Sporting Goods in Granite City, IL, after many years of dedicated service. Shirley was an avid golfer, bowler, and an all around sports fan.

She enjoyed dancing in her younger years, spending time at Lake of Egypt, solving crossword puzzles and putting jigsaw puzzles together. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Shirley never met a stranger and she was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.

She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by a son, Jim Norris; and by a sister, Jean Myers. She is survived by her loving children, Danny (Nancy) Norris of Marion, IL and Donna (Mike) Genovese of Granite City, IL; dear sisters, Joann Cotter of Mitchell, IL and Judy (Marvin) Brokaw of Wood River, IL; proud grandmother to Aaron (Shannon) Lakatos of Granite City, IL, Sean (Jamie) Lakatos of Granite City, IL, Jennifer Norris of Marion, IL, Charlie Norris of Granite City, IL, Michelle (Scott) Moss of Granite City, IL and Tonya (Justin Bernaix) Genovese of Glen Carbon, IL; proud great-grandmother to Kaylie, Kameron, Alexandria, Aden, Colin, Joshua, Caden, Kinsley, Brady, Zachary and Ozias; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road, Granite City, IL. In celebration of her life, funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Irwin Chapel, with Pastor Jason Pierce officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates, Glen Carbon, IL.

Memorial donations may be given to Alzheimer’s Association. Donations will be accepted at the funeral chapel. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.
