Whittington, Jr., 72, of Liberty, MS, passed away on January 21, 2019 at SWRMC in McComb surrounded by his family. Visitation will be Friday, January 25, 2019 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb with visitation again on Saturday from 2 PM until services at 3 PM at the funeral home. Dr. David Millican will officiate and burial will be in the East Fork Cemetery.

Sonny was born on August 26, 1946 in McComb, MS. He is the son of the late, Clyde E. Whittington, Sr., and Wilmena Wilson Whittington. Sonny worked as a heavy equipment operator for Barber Brothers Contracting of Baton Rouge, LA.

He was a hardworking, loyal man to his family and job. He was a clean living man who enjoyed writing and playing music. He enjoyed hunting, farming and sports, especially football.

He will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by one daughter, Alicia A. Whittington, his grandson, Garrison S. Whittington of Liberty, one sister, Anna Minks (Jim) of Michigan and one nephew, Chuck Reynolds.
