Obituary of Sonya Shelton Sonya Kay Shelton, 34, Marion, passed away at Marion General Hospital at 1:27 p.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018. A lifelong resident of Marion, Sonya was born in Marion on November 14, 1983, to James and Brenda (Lindsey) Shelton. Sonya attended Marion Community Schools and had worked at Dana Corp.

in Marion. She enjoyed working on her computer, especially connecting with her friends. She also liked watching scary movies.

Sonya especially cherished her time spent with her nieces, nephews, and grandpa. She was actively involved with her church at Buggs Chapel Church of God in Christ in Marion, where she helped as a secretary. Sonya was also known for how much she loved to laugh and tell stories.

She will be missed by many. She is survived by her parents, James and Brenda Shelton, Marion; grandparents, Charles (late Elizabeth) Gearlds, Marion; Lillie (late Elder Ora Leroy) Lindsey, Marion; brothers, Jay (Fonda) Lindsey, Marion, and Lee (Nicole) Lindsey, Fishers; nieces and nephews, Mea, Jaelin, and Mariah; several friends, uncles, aunts, and cousins; and her dog, Sugar. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Sonya’s funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at New New Bethany Church of God in Christ, 2801 S. Carey St., Marion, IN.

Superintendent Samuel L. King, Sr., will be officiating with burial following at Grant Memorial Park. Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave. , Marion, IN.
