Obituary of Jerry Jones Jerry Wayne Jones, 73, Gas City, passed away at 11:38 a.m. on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion on July 17, 1945, to Virgil W. and Margaret (Durkes) Jones. Jerry’s first jobs were working at Hardee’s in Logansport and Elwood, where he made biscuits.

He then worked at and retired from Pierce Governor in Upland. About twenty years ago, his son, Kevin, introduced him to Nancy Nelson. It didn’t take Jerry long to know that he wanted Nancy to become his wife, and they were married on July 4, 1999.

A very quiet person and a man of few words, Jerry’s jokester side came out to those he knew well. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for family, and he loved watching cartoons and collecting movies. He was also a Pacers, Yankees, and Cowboys fan.

He enjoyed mowing with his John Deere mower, and chicken was his favorite food. He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Nancy; daughters, Karen (Roger) Gard, Marion, and Rhonda Nelson, Montpelier; son, Kevin Wayne (Penny) Nelson, Columbus, Ohio; 5 grandchildren, Kameron, Luke, Beccia, Gabriella, and Quinton; sister, Kay (Gary) Stoffer, Van Buren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Samuel Gard.

In accordance with the family’s wishes, there will be no visitation or service. Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN. Online condolences may be made at www.
