Steve Martin, 69, of Galveston, passed away at 10:57 am Wednesday at St. Vincent Hospital in Kokomo. He was born October 30, 1949 in Iowa to Charles R. and Mary S. (Mires) Martin. On December 9, 1969 in Fairfax, Missouri, he married Diane Shinn and she survives.

Steve was a welder and boilermaker by trade, working for Bryansteam for 40 years. He retired in January of 2018. He was also a farmhand for Rex Gilbreath for many years.

Steve enjoyed running his bulldozer and being outdoors as much as possible. Steve also loved his grandkids very much. He attended Mt.

Zion Free Methodist Church and served his country in the US Air Force in Vietnam. Surviving family include his wife Diane Martin of Galveston, son, Jeff (Leslie) Martin, Walton, grandchildren, Miah and Arie Martin of Walton; brothers, Charles R. Martin Jr., Lathrop, MO; and Ronnie (Jayne) Martin of Tarkio, MO; and sister, Joyce (James) Scott, Maryville, MO. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Steve is preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Bette Martin. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25th at Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.

Funeral services will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Jackson Moore and Mark Lefler officiating. Burial will follow at Galveston Cemetery with Military Honors graveside. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cass County 4H or Mt.

Zion Free Methodist Church. Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston has been entrusted with arrangements. www.
