Mr. Thomas Alfred Barton, age 90, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 in Charlotte, surrounded by his family after a long illness. Tom was born June 29, 1928 in St. Petersburg, Florida to the late Alfred and Hazel Barton. He was the eldest of four children, George, Salena and Margaret, all of whom preceded him in death.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Ruth Welty Barton, formerly of Franklin KY, his daughter, Carol Kazmaier and her husband Kim Max Kazmaier of Charlotte, and two grandchildren, Bryan Kazmaier and Jenna Kazmaier, and ten nieces and nephews. Tom grew up in New Hampshire and spent twelve years in the US Army before attending The University of Tennessee at Knoxville to pursue a degree in Engineering. He became a Civil Engineer with the Federal Highways Administration where he worked for 28 years.

In retirement, Tom loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed model railroading, puzzles, woodworking, golf and watching football. Memorial donations may be made to The Ivey Memory Wellness Day Center, 6030 Park South Drive, Charlotte, NC 28210 www.
