Thomas’ Obituary Thomas Joseph “Tom” Orbaugh, age 74 and formerly a lifelong resident of Elwood, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Lindberg Crossing Senior Living in Anderson following an extended illness. He was born September 18, 1944 in Elwood, the son of Richard J. and Esther Bette (Thomas) Orbaugh. Tom was a 1962 graduate of Frankton High School, and later served his country in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Army Reserve.

He worked on production for the Delco Remy division of General Motors in Anderson for 30 years and retired in 1985. Tom was a member of the U.A.W. #662, the Elwood Elks Lodge #368, and a 53-year member of the Quincy Masonic Lodge #230 in Elwood. Tom was a member of the Aroma United Methodist Church where his family had longtime roots in the church.

He was an avid golfer and former member of the Elwood Country Club. He also enjoyed bowling and playing softball for many years. Tom’s family includes his sister, Kathleen (husband Ed) Snouwaert of St. Paul, MN; nephew, Jim (wife Sara) Snouwaert of Maple Grove, MN; a great-niece, Jessica Snouwaert; aunt, Dee Thomas of Lawrenceburg; and cousins Ann Brewer, Donna Ewing, Luann Thomas, Bill Thomas, and Jeff Thomas.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Gail & Opal Orbaugh, aunt and uncle, Don & Georgia Orbaugh; uncles, Jack Thomas, Mark Thomas, and Jim Thomas; and cousins, Tim Thomas, Julie Thomas, and Doug Hudson. A memorial service honoring Tom’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Pastor Charlie Hoover of Aroma United Methodist Church officiating. The memorial service will begin with a Masonic ritual by Quincy Masonic Lodge.

Burial will follow in the Elwood City Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the memorial service on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Aroma United Methodist church through the funeral home.
