Timothy Harildstad, age 64, passed away May 6, 2018. He was born December 31, 1953 in Carrington, North Dakota to the late Victor and Geneva Harildstad. Graduated from high school in 1972 from Cardinal Muench Seminary in Fargo, ND; North Dakota State University in 1976; St. Mary of the Lake Seminary in Chicago in 1982 with a Masters Degree in Divinity.

Ordained a Priest of the Diocese of Columbus in 1982; served at St. Catharine, Holy Spirit and St. Pius X Parishes. He was assigned to the Court of the Diocese and studied Canon Law at the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Studied Civil Law at The Ohio State University and received his Juris Doctor in 1991. Served as a prosecutor in Franklin County Municipal Court from 1991-1993.

He was privileged and grateful to practice criminal law with Dennis McNamara, Esq. from 1993 until 2007. He was selected to be a Magistrate in the Franklin County Common Pleas Court where he worked until the time of his passing.

He married Betsy Briggs in 1990. Betsy is an R.N. at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. He felt comforted by her skill with children.

It would have been impossible to nurture Kyle and Rachel without her help. Little did he know he would need the skill of an R.N. for himself. This came into sharp focus the lovely April day in 2004 when he was diagnosed with a Choroidal Melanoma.

He was referred to Dr. Kari Kendra, M.D., PhD at The Ohio State University. She and her staff treated Tim and they were a steady guide through 14 years of treatment. They treated him until September 2017 when he was transferred to the great care of Mt.

Carmel Hospice. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Perry Harildstad and sister-in-law, Pam Briggs. He is survived by the three lights of his life: his wife, Betsy Briggs Harildstad; son, Kyle Harildstad and daughter, Rachel (Erick Gampp) Harildstad; sisters, Victoria (Bill) McCurley, Helen (Sam) Breuer, Peggy (Randy) Dahlen; brother, Keith Harildstad; mother-in-law, Patricia Briggs; sisters-in-law, Suzie (Pat) Howard, Julie (Scott) Gallagher, Jen (Mike) Eramo; brothers-in-law, Dan Briggs, Kevin (Terry) Briggs, Mark (Katrina) Briggs and Bob Briggs; many nieces, nephews and friends.
