Obituary for Tomasa Santiago Tomasa Santiago, age 93, of Rogersville, fell asleep in death on Monday, October 22, 2018, at residence. She was born on January 8, 1925 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. In 1950, she and her family moved to New York City, where she was married.

When her sister fell sick and died, she and her mother raised her sister’s three children, Carlos, Nilsa, and Ishmael. In 1991, she moved to Rogersville to be with her family. Her family grew to include the children of her niece and nephew, Debbie, Denise, Maria, Michael, and Andrew.

Survivors include her nephew, Carlos and Yvette Villa and family; and niece, Sal and Nilsa Salerno and family. She was affectionately known to her family and friends as “Titi”, Auntie in Spanish, with an outgoing and independent spirit. She loved to quilt and sew dolls for family and friends.

Although she lost her hearing in her twenties, this did not hinder her ability to be part of the community and express her love to all those she knew. The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Christian-Sells Funeral Home in Rogersville. The funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Richard Robinson officiating.
