Obituary for Vadna LaJoy McFarland Bush Big Stone Gap, VA Vadna LaJoy McFarland Bush, 82, went to meet her Savior on Friday (June 1, 2018) at Holston Valley Medical Center. Vadna accepted Christ 56 years ago and during this time served God by being a Sunday School teacher, church clerk and a singer. Her testimony song was “He Touched Me”.
Now Vadna has complete healing. She was a member of Zion’s Chapel Church in Big Stone Gap. Vadna attended Mountain Empire Community College and wrote for The Post newspaper with columns Wildcat News and later “Happenings and Happiness”.
She was a master gardener and loved to crochet. Most of all, she enjoyed talking to people and had many friends. Vadna was preceded in death by her husband, June Bush; daughter, Peggy Thiessen; grandson, Matthew Bush; parents, Gus and Mary (Gollaway) McFarland; her brothers, Olson, Tommy and Michael McFarland; and sister, Sue Barnes.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey “Bo” Bush and Phyllis Stewart Bush, and Roy Bush and Robin Dunn Bush; granddaughter, Joanna Watts Weaver and husband, Brian; her grandson, Jacob Bush; granddaughter-in-law, Rebecca Snyder Bush; great grandchildren, Jackson Cooper and Paisley June Bush; her sister, Mollie Snodgrass and husband, Ronnie; and her little dog, “Snuffy”. The family will receive friends 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Roger Jenkins and Rev.
Travis Jenkins officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 12 noon Wednesday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 11:30 to go in procession.
Pallbearers will be: Jacob Bush, Ernie Covington, Carlos Bush, William Bush, Kenny Rhoton and Brian Richardson. Honorary pallbearers, Ronnie Snodgrass, Eugene Estep and Bobby Mabe. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, P. O. Box 1000, Memphis, TN 38148-0142.
