Verda V. “Lee” Carson, 81, of Kokomo, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 22, 2019. She was born September 23, 1937 in Nettleton, Mississippi to the late John E. Franks and Francis McMallon Franks. Lee was a Nurse’s Aide at various nursing homes in Kokomo for 40 years until she became an inhome caregiver.

Lee loved to cook and could whip up a cake so quick you would have thought she spent hours on it. Lee was also an avid Scrabble player, and would spend hours playing family and friends, winning most games she played. She never met a stranger and had many dear friends.

She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Gary) Commons, Richard Hagood, Terry (Tracy) Jeffries, and Jeffrey Carson. Grandchildren include, Scott Eltzroth, Jason Boruff, Joshua Commons, Jeni Commons, Jessica Geary, Ashley Romans, Jonni Sears, Kirby Hagood, Jacob Mitchell, Matthew Mitchell, Leah Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Jesse Mitchell, Sarah Mitchell, Jacob Spidell, Patrick Favors, and Allison Owens. Lee also had 22 great grandchildren and several special nieces and nephews.

She also had a little dog, Maggie Mae. She was preceded in death by her son Michael Hagood, granddaughter Rachel Mitchell, her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Lee’s wishes were to be cremated with no services.

She asked that family honor her by going to dinner and reminisce good memories of her over a beer. Contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Murray Weaver Funeral Home in Galveston.
