Obituary of Verlyn Ora Evans Verlyn Ora Evans, 98, passed away at 9:47 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Wesleyan Health Care Center in Marion. The daughter and only child of the late Sis. Ora Lee Parker and late Bro.

David Clark, Verlyn was born in Postel, Arkansas (Phillips County), on February 24, 1921. She moved to Marion and joined Second Baptist under the leadership of Rev. Bradley.

Verlyn worked at Williams Tayloring for years. She then started working at her home doing seamstress work. She also enjoyed bowling.

Verlyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Saviour at an early age at New Hope M.B. Church in Helena, Arkansas. She had an opportunity to serve at New Hope when she moved back to take care of her sick mother from 1979-1988. Verlyn then moved back to Marion to be with her step-daughter and son-in-law, Geraldine and Eddie Cole.

She leaves to mourn her passing her other children, Marcia Evans, Elizabeth Ann (Eugene) Simmons, and Richard (Brenda) Evans; cousin, Darlene Marshall and family, Dolton, IL; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Morrell Clark, and her sister, Dorthy Clark. The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m. to 12 noon with Verlyn’s funeral service beginning at 12 noon on Saturday, March 16, 2019, at Greater Second Baptist Church, 705 W. 26th St., Marion, IN.

Elder Lloyd Majors will be officiating with burial following at Estates of Serenity. Memorial contributions may be directed to the church and to Cancer Services of Grant County, Tower Suites, 305 S. Norton Ave. , Marion, IN 46952.
