Cheeseman, formerly of Toms River, NJ and Lyndhurst, NJ, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2019 at the age of 99. He was kind and caring, and he was a true gentleman. Born in Trenton, NJ on December 29, 1919, Vernon married his loving wife Leona (Polewka) in 1942.

Soon after they wed, he served in the US Army. He attended radio school and became a technician for WAAT radio station. Two years later, he began his 35 year career working for CBS.

Starting as a technician, he became a Field Operating Engineer and traveled to help facilitate the broadcasting of sports events, elections, parades, golf tournaments, and the Ed Sullivan and the Person-to-Person TV shows. He then became a supervisor in Transmissions Facilities. Vernon enjoyed reading, walking, playing the guitar, playing cards, doing card and magic tricks, and helping others.

He was a member of Free Care in Holiday City, Toms River where he volunteered to help community members with repairs. He was a humble man who lived his life with integrity, and he instilled these values in his children. Above all, he loved his family, and his family loved and respected him.

Vernon was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, his son-in-law William John Czarnecki, and his grandson William Joseph Czarnecki. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in law, Elaine Czarnecki of Parsippany, NJ, Catherine and Howard Wiecoreck of Washington, NJ, and Susan and Alan Fazzari of Farmingdale, NJ; his grandchildren and their spouses, Eileen and Fabio Ciampini, Kenneth and Pamela Wiecoreck, Diane and Christopher Kassai, Jeanette and Daniel Jones, and Sandra and Oberio Vieira; and his great-grandchildren Ethan Kassai, Logan Wiecoreck, Colin Kassai, Julia Wiecoreck, Hannah Jones, Lily Kassai, Josiah Jones, Liana Ciampini, and Isabella Vieira. Services will be private.
