Vernon Darrell Wilhite, 85, formerly of Evansville, passed away Monday, March 11, 2019 at Rosegate Village in Indianapolis. Mr. Wilhite was born April 30, 1933 in Evansville to the late Alonzo and Mary (Pennell) Wilhite. Darrell was a very active man and enjoyed hunting, fishing and bowling.

He worked as a die press operator for Kent Plastics. Surviving Darrell are three daughters, Kathy Krueger of Evansville, Norma (Elmer) Mansfield of Charleston, MO and Karen (Harvey) Jones of Richlands, NC; one brother, Bruce (Kay) Wilhite of Evansville; grandchildren, Staci Krueger, Randi Krueger, Jackie Jones, Jesse Thigpen, Johnny Jourdan and Kelly Bertsch and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mayfair “Jackie” Wilhite in 2006; by a sister, Carole Hazard and by a grandson, Frankie Jourdan.

Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Pierre Funeral Home, Rev. Johnny Jourdan officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 10:00 AM until service time on Friday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street.
