Obituary for Vickie Ann Peek Vickie Ann Peek, 79, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Monday, December 31st, 2018, in Summerville, South Carolina. Vickie was born on January 27th, 1939, in Gastonia, North Carolina, to Alonzo and Marie Wilson. When she was just a teenager in 1956, she met Navy signalman Sanford E. Peek (Sam), the man with whom she would build a life and family.

After years of traveling with the Navy and adding four children to their fold, they eventually made their permanent home in Summerville, SC. Vickie is survived by her husband Sanford Peek, Sr.; children, Sanford Peek, Jr. (Valerie), Melisa Clemmons (Raymond, d.), Sharon Mooring (Michael), and Michael Peek (Debbie); grandchildren Tiffany Nichols (William), Ashley Clemmons, Barnes Dix (Alan), Michael Mooring, Jr., Brandon Peek, Samantha Mooring, Curtis Peek, and Steven Peek; great-granddaughter Annabelle Nichols; brother Sammy Wilson (Mary); and numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Stephen Wilson; and her son-in-law, Raymond Clemmons.

Vickie was a generous, dedicated individual who was passionate about her family. She was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest champion. Vickie worked in civil service for 22 years before retiring.

She enjoyed various creative pursuits throughout her lifetime, including painting, playing the piano, cooking, and writing about her life. In the warmer months, she enjoyed spending time with Sam at their mountain home in Franklin, NC. Vickie was an incredibly resilient person who persevered through every challenge and trial put in her path.

She will be greatly missed by the many people who loved her. A local memorial service and visitation with the family is scheduled for Saturday, January 5th, 2019, visitation will be from 10 am to 11 am with service starting at 11 am at First Baptist Church of Jedburg (121 Brewer Road, Summerville, SC 29483). Funeral services will take place at Ellijay Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin, NC (16 Little Ellijay Road, Franklin, NC 28734), on Saturday, January 12th, 2019.

All are welcome to attend to celebrate, remember, and honor Vickie.
