Victor E. Grossetti, Sr., 96, of Torrington, CT and Quaker Hill, CT passed away peacefully at the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington after a brief illness on June 13, 2018. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Olive Brusoe Grossetti and his stillborn son Francis. Vic was a plumber by trade and worked at the Torrington Company for many years, where he helped organize the union Local 1645 UAW, after receiving the charter from the hands of Walter Reuther, head of the AFL-CIO.

He was a disabled army veteran of the World War II, having served in the 100th Infantry Division 399 Company C, and he enjoyed his annual reunions with The Century Men, “The Sons of e.” Vic was born in Torrington on Dec. 29, 1921 to Giuseppe and Ernida Milesi Grossetti and lived there most of his life. He had one brother, Amedeo (Lefty) Grossetti and one sister, Rena Spadaccini, both of whom predeceased him.

He was also predeceased by both his sons-in-law, James White and Page L. Jackson, III. He is survived by his son, Victor E. Grossetti, Jr and his daughter Mary White, three grandchildren: Cara and Gena Scognamiglio and Matthew White, and a great granddaughter, Nina Butler, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and many, many friends. Funeral services will he handled by Phalen Funeral Home in Torrington with a viewing on Monday, June 18 from 9:30 to 10:30 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Torrington at 11 am.

Burial with full military honors will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Torrington. In lieu of flowers, please consider making contributions to the VNA Northwest, Inc. or the VNA of SECT, both of which provided him with exceptional care.
