Virginia “Ginny” M. Horton, 93, of Milan, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019 at her residence. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, February 1, 2019 at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 201 E. 4th Ave. , Milan.

Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Lawn Memorial Estates, Moline. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the American Diabetes Association.

Virginia was born on May 2, 1925 in West Jersey, IL, the daughter of Fred and Evelyn (Sweat) Heaton. She married Roscoe Horton on August 24, 1946 in Moline. Virginia was employed as a teacher for the Rock Island School District, teaching home economics and science.

Her memberships include: Trinity United Methodist Church, Milan, Daughter of American Revolution, Home Extension, and the Milan Chapter of the Eastern Star. Virginia enjoyed cooking, painting, birdwatching, and doing genealogy. Virginia is survived by her children, Neal (Diana) Horton, Orlando, FL, Randy (Nancy) Horton, East Moline, Jill Horton, Moline, and Jay Horton, Milan; 9 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roscoe Horton; brother, George Heaton; and sister, Ann Speer.
