Virginia Dallas Murphy, 88, of 668 F.C. Beverly Road, Dry Fork, VA died on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Gretna Health and Rehabilitation Center after being in declining health for a month. Mrs. Murphy was born in Pittsylvania County, VA on November 17, 1930 daughter of the late Jabe Wells Dallas and the late Fannie Fuller Dallas. She spent all of her life in the Pittsylvania County area where she was a homemaker and a teacher’s aide for the Pittsylvania County School System.

She was a member of Whitmell United Methodist Church. Mrs. Murphy married Ralph Eugene Murphy who died on July 22, 2014. Survivors include three children, Stanley Murphy, and his wife Vickie, of Gretna, VA, Cheryl Donison, and her husband Marc, of Bowling Green, KY, and Brian Murphy, and his wife Sandy, of Dry Fork, VA; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, Hunter, and Amber Murphy; great grandson, Noah Murphy; and a sister, Jerene Hamill of Alexandria, VA.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by siblings, Henry Dallas, Pete Dallas, Mary Gammon, Mable Powell, Lois Agee and Sally Dallas. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Whitmell United Methodist Church with the Reverend Wayne Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at the Wrenn-Yeatts Westover Chapel from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. At other times, they will be at the residence, 668 F.C. Beverly Road, Dry Fork, VA 24549. The family suggest that memorials may be made to the Tunstall Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 575, Danville, VA 24543, the Whitmell UMC Building Fund, or to a charity of your choice. The family would like to wish a special thank you to the staff of Gretna Health and Rehabilitation Center for their love and care that they provided.
