Obituary for Willard Carter Willard Carter, 78, of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 20, 1940 in St. Charles, VA to the late Green Carter and Louise Carter-Prater. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Jack Owen Prater; sister, Ella Mae Ely; brother, Clyde Carter; nephew, Jason Carter; and one grandson, Logan Edgar.

Willard worked at the Virginia Department of Transportation for 34 years. He had a love for classic cars, tractors, sports, gardening, and above all else, spending time with his grandkids. He was a member of York United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eva Sue Carter; one son, Larry (Regina) Carter, of Lynnville, TN; three daughters, Cindy (Tim) Lundy, of Pennington Gap, VA, Kristi (Mark) Flanary, of Jonesville, VA, and Alysia “Tootie” (Brandon) Edgar, of Jonesville, VA; seven granddaughters, Kenisha (Josh) Surber, Kaitlyn Skidmore, Makaila Penley, Madelyn and Fallyn Flanary, Emberly Edgar and Kyleigh Surber, all of Jonesville; two brothers, Earl Carter of Mooresville, IN and Charles (Lucy) Carter of Mooresville, IN; several nieces and nephews, cousins and many close friends. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, at Friendship Baptist Church in Jonesville. The memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev.
