Obituary for William “Bob” R. Patton Dateline: Bethalto William “Bob” R. Patton, 86, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Alton Memorial Hospital. He was born on August 15, 1931, in Pearl, IL, the son of William Merle “Mutt” and Freda B. (Guthrie) Patton. Bob married Joyce Evans on January 3, 1954, in Winchester, Illinois.
She preceded him in death on March 17, 2017. Bob worked at Illinois Rural Electric as an area service man for Calhoun County for 30 years before retiring. He was a member of Sand Ridge Baptist Church in Winchester, Calhoun Masonic Lodge, and a Boy Scout Leader for several years in Winchester.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and his wife. He loved fishing, hunting, wood working and fly tying. Survivors include two children, Cindy and Rick Malone of Dorsey, Mike Patton of Bethalto; four grandchildren, Matt Malone, Colin Patton and his wife Sarah, Alyssa Patton and Morgan Malone; one great granddaughter, Emma Patton; a sister, Virginia “Ginny” and Jack Hammon of Wood River; two brothers, Donald “Bud” and Louise Patton of Casper, WY, and Johnny and Jeri Patton of Jerseyville; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents and a sister, Doris. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home in Bethalto. Funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Blankley officiating.
Military and Masonic rites will be accorded. Burial will take place in Winchester, IL at Winchester City Cemetery at 1 pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Memorials may be given to American Heart Association or VITAS Hospice Online condolences can be given at www.
