Atty. William J. Lyons Jr., 71, passed away June 6, 2018 unexpectedly at his home. He was born Sept.

24, 1946 to the late William Sr. and Nora Lyons. Billy graduated from Cathedral in 1964, St. Anselm College in 1968 and Suffolk University Law School in 1971. He was a well respected attorney in Hampden County for over 47 years and was a member of the Hampden County Bar Association.

Billy was a great story teller who enjoyed reading about history. He was a brilliant man, yet couldn’t figure out how to turn on a VCR. Billy was an avid sports fan, especially of all the New England teams.

He was predeceased by his father William “Buster” Lyons in 1991 and his mother Nora “Noney” Lyons in 2008. Billy leaves his loving wife of 43 years, Donna (Johnson) Lyons, his children; Marcie Lyons of Greenfield, William J. Lyons III and his wife Cassandra of W. Spfld. , Allison Hayden and her husband Rick of W. Spfld.

, and Courtney Lyons also of W. Spfld. , his grandchildren; Olivia and Nora Lyons, Reese and Parker Hayden and Danielle Trauschke, his brothers James Lyons and his wife Kathleen and Martin Lyons and his wife Kim, and his sister Maureen Lyons, all of W. Splfd, along with several cousins, nieces and nephews. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held TUESDAY 9:30 AM in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St., W. Spfld.

Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held MONDAY from 3 to 7 PM at TOOMEY-O’BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST. , W. SPFLD.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations in Billy’s name be made to the William “Buster” Lyons Memorial Scholarship Fund, Key Bank, 225 Park Ave.
