Obituary for Winifred J. Hicks Winifred J. Hicks, 90, of Kingsford, passed away on Friday, June 22 2018 at Freeman Nursing & Rehabilitation Community. She was born June 27, 1927 in Ironwood, MI, daughter of the late Albany and Lottie (Trethewey) Whitford. Winifred graduated from Ironwood High School in 1945.
She married Thomas Hicks on October 12, 1946 in Ironwood and they moved to Kingsford shortly thereafter. Winifred was a member of First Methodist Church in Iron Mountain and she loved reading religious books. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan.
Winifred enjoyed trips to camp and spending time with her family. She is survived by three children, Kathy (Robert) Trulock of Kingsford, Roy (Jeann) Hicks of Hancock, MI and Gary Hicks of Ishpeming; grandchildren, Mark (Becky) Trulock of Kingsford, Kim (Mike) Phillips of Niagara, Shane (Kerstin) Trulock of Kingsford, Clint Trulock of Kingsford, Jennifer Hicks of Niagara, Michele (Steve) LaCourt of Hancock, Tom (Tonya) Hicks of Painesdale, MI and Allen Hicks of Sturgeon Bay, WI; 20 great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Merlin Hicks and Gordon Hicks, both of Kingsford; a sister-in-law, Carol (Tom) Bates of Kingsford; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas in 2013; a brother, Jack Whitford; two sisters, Gertie Gohl and Carol Orso; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Forcey and Ethel Lidbeck.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Thursday at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 pm at the Kingsford Funeral Home. Rev.
Walter Reichle will officiate. Burial will be in Cemetery Park. In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established in her memory.
