Obituary of Wynola Yelton Talcottville- Wynola E. Yelton, 83, of Domser Road, widow of Verle E. passed away at her residence on Friday, March 2, 2018, while surrounded by the loving care of her family. Affectionately known as Winnie, she was born at the Yager homestead farm near Hawkinsville, on February 23, 1935, a daughter of Perley E. and Margaret Owens Yager. She graduated from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1953; thereafter Winnie attended and graduated from The Utica School of Beauty Culture.

On October 30, 1954, Winnie was united in marriage with Verle “Yogi” Yelton, at the Hawkinsville Methodist Church. Thereafter the couple lived on Hayes Road, near Hawkinsville, before moving to their present home on the Domser Road, Talcottville, in 1977. Their marriage was a blessed and happy union which endured for over 63 years, until Mr. Yelton, a retiree of Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper Co. passed away on January 26, 2018.

Mrs. Yelton was employed at Lally Manufacturing Co. Port Leyden; for many years she was employed as a CNA at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, and also in private duty home health care, over a wide area in Oneida, Lewis and Herkimer Counties. For many years she operated Winnie’s Beauty Parlor at her residence in Talcottville. Winnie was well known for her talents in caning chairs and repairing furniture and she will be fondly remembered for her skillful making of Christmas garland.

She was a member of the Talcottville United Methodist Church and the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church, where she served as church custodian. Winnie is survived by her children: Deborah (Mike) Overton, Lowville, Richard (Tammy) Yelton, Boonville and Loretta (Brian) Sowich, Bridgeport; eight grandchildren: Jody, Joel, Richard Jr., Amanda, Cody, Kimberly, Kristin, and Jada and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers, George Yager, in 1990, and Owen “Oakie” Yager, in 1996.

Also surviving are two brothers in law, Gordon (Joyce) Schleicher, Bernard Yelton and sisters in law, Betty Yager, Beverly Wheelock and Shirley (Stewart) Dunn. Her Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 10:30 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment in the spring in Hayes Cemetery, Hawkinsville. Calling hours are Monday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
