Poland – A. Henry Jahn, 95, died early Friday morning, March 15, 2019 at Hospice of the Valley’s Hospice House. Mr. Jahn was born August 17, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a son of Dr. Augustus and Elizabeth Zahniser Jahn. Raised in Pennsylvania, he was a 1941 graduate of Rimersburg High School and received his B.A. degree in Biology from Washington & Jefferson College in 1953.

He met Doris Zeyer while she was working in Pittsburgh and they were wed on June 7, 1941, and were united in marriage for more than 64 years. In 1953, Mr. Jahn relocated to the Youngstown area when he took a position as a pharmaceutical representative with Parke-Davis Company, which later became Warner-Lambert and is currently Pfizer. He retired from the company in 1986 after 33 years of service.

For over 40 years, Henry and his family enjoyed spending time at their cottage on Seneca Lake in Southeast Ohio, where they especially enjoyed fishing. He also enjoyed golfing, and being in the outdoors observing nature. He was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church.

A proud veteran, Mr. Jahn served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II as a pilot. His wife, Doris, preceded him in death on July 23, 2011. He is survived by his son, Douglas Jahn of Parkman, Ohio; daughter, Shelley Jahn of Columbus, Ohio; two grandchildren, Scott (AnnaLe) Jahn of Bainbridge, Ohio and Benjamin (Jess) Jahn of Bozeman, Montana; five great-grandchildren, Norah, Connor, and Margot Jahn, and Elouise and Bennett Jahn; brother in-law, Ray (Vivian) Zeyer of Delaware, Ohio; sister-in-law, Audrey Jahn of Oxford, Pennsylvania; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Henry was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Richard Jahn; sisters, Dorothy Krymski and Ethel Jahn; his mother and father-in-law, Ray and Erma Zeyer; and his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Jahn. Family and friends will be received on Monday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Private interment will take place on Wednesday at Olive Branch Cemetery in his wife’s hometown of Harrisville, Ohio. Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Mr. Jahn’s name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
