Obituary for Alan Glen Van Pelt Alan G. Van Pelt, 62, of Central City, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at CHI – Saint Francis in Grand Island. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, June 19th at 11:00 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City with Rev. Tom Lucas officiating.

Alan Glen Van Pelt, was born on February 10, 1956 in Denver, Colorado to Robert and Carmen Dean. He attended elementary school in Loveland, Colorado until the 6th grade. In 1967 he moved to Archer, Nebraska when Dwaine and Carmen Van Pelt combined their families as one.

He was then adopted by Dwaine. Alan then attended and graduated from Central City High School in 1974. Following his graduation, he enlisted into the United States Army, where he served his country until his honorable discharge.

Following his military service, he moved to Longmont, Colorado where he worked for an electrical company. He then moved to Nevada, where he began working in the lab for Newmont Mining Corporation, gold mine. He married Sherry Zimmerman in Elko, Nevada in 1988.

To this union one son was born, Bobby Van Pelt. Alan then moved to Denver, where he continued working for a mining assay lab and eventually began working some construction. He then moved back to Central City, where he worked as a handyman and did some construction work as well.

Alan remained working in Central City until his health would no longer allow him too. Alan was an excellent carpenter, especially doing trim work. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his ATV, the Denver Broncos, horses, dancing in his younger years, and rock-n-roll music.

His greatest loves were getting to spend time with his family, and especially his 3 grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his son; Robert (Desiree) Van Pelt of Central City, his parents; Dwaine and Carmen Van Pelt of Archer, his siblings; Sue (Norman) Krug of Marquette, Anne (Dave) Gillespie of Eagle, Carol Van Pelt of Colorado Springs, CO, Robin Glisson (Dave Rons) of Central City, David Van Pelt (Melanie Miller) of Lincoln, Doug (Donnette) Van Pelt of Central City, Dan (Tonya) Van Pelt of Phillips, and three grandchildren; Josie, Blakeley, and Treyson Van Pelt of Central City. He was preceded in death by his grandparents; Louis and Naomi Fell, and Leonard and Vera Van Pelt, his uncle; Gordon Fell, and his aunt; Nada Thoden.
