Obituary for Dorothy L. Hughes Dorothy L. Hughes, 77, of Central City, died Monday, June 18, 2018 at CHI-Saint Francis in Grand Island. Memorial services will be Friday, June 29, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Central City with Pastor Tom Lucas officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www. soltwagnerfuneral.com Dorothy was born on March 12, 1941 to Doris Patzel in Omaha. She was adopted by Charles William and Ila Draper at the age of two.

She graduated from North Platte High School and then attended the University of Colorado for two years where she studied music. Dorothy later attended nursing school in Fort Worth, TX and received her LPN. She married Benny H. Hughes on October 27, 1962 in Garrison, CO.

The couple moved frequently due to Benny’s work as an aviation mechanic and sheet metal laborer, living in Washington State, Texas, and Nebraska. Dorothy was a member of the 7th Day Adventist Church in Aurora and the United Methodist Church in Central City. She is survived by her children, Terrence “Todd” (Tina) Hughes of Marshall, MO, and Develyn Dawn Hughes of Central City; special niece- Lauri (Roger) Paup Johnson of Central City, NE; her siblings, Chuck (Lannita) Draper of Fort Collins, CO, Dennis (Sandy) Majerus of Wolbach, Barbara (Larry) Paup of Central City, Jim Majerus of Petersburg, Dave Majerus of Maricopa, AZ, Linda (Jim) Mostek of Newman Grove, John (Helen) Majerus of Cedar Rapids, Joan (Jim) Swanson of Hordville, Larry (Linda) Majerus of Doniphan, Dan Majerus of Grand Island, and George Majerus of Albion; four grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benny; an infant twin sister; two brothers, Terry Majerus and Charlie Majerus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
