Obituary for Thelma M Herman Thelma Margaret Herman, 91, of Central City, Nebraska died Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City. Funeral services will be Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clarks. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City.

Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery by Pierce Chapel. Memorials are suggested to the family to be designated at a later date. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.

soltwagnerfuneral.com. Thelma was born on February 19, 1927 to William and Mabel (Turner) Francis in Norwich, England. Thelma grew up in Norwich and attended school there.

She met Robert Herman at a dance in 1943 as he was stationed in the military during WWII. The couple married on January 6, 1945. The couple then moved back to the family farm near Clarks when Bob was discharged from the service in September of 1945.

Thelma became very busy as the couple began what turned out to be a very large family. She also worked as a cook at Clarks School for over 30 years. Thelma was a member of the Clarks United Methodist Church.

She was a volunteer at the Central City Senior Center and Litzenberg Long Term Care. She was very talented when it came to crocheting, sewing, and needlepoint. She even won “Best in County” for a towel she made this last Summer.

She is survived by six sons- David and Gayle Herman of Las Vegas, NV; Ron and Tricia Herman of Lincoln, NE; Ric and Vicki Herman of Clarks, NE; Mike and Laura Herman of Kearney, NE; Larry Herman of Phoenix, AZ; and Brian and Angie Herman of Fullerton, NE; two daughters- Diane McCoy of Gothenburg, NE and Beverly and Mark Hansen of Lincoln, NE; one sister- Doreen Campbell of Norwich, England; 20 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren; special friend- Gerald Jindra of Central City, NE. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband- Robert; one daughter- Margaret “Peggy” Barnes; one grandson- Christopher Swanson; and a brother in law- Ian Campbell.
