Obituary for Robert J. Flesch Deacon Robert “Bob” J. Flesch, 81, of The Woodlands, TX passed peacefully in the night on Tuesday, July 24 in the presence of those who loved him. Memorial services will to be held on October 13, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Central City, NE. , followed by Christian burial at the Central City Cemetery.

Robert was born May 14, 1937 in Kenosha, WI, to Joe and Leona Flesch (Braun). He grew up in Ravenna, NE, along with his brother, Jerry Flesch of Wichita Falls, TX, and his sister Jeanene Lilienthal of Doniphan, NE. Robert graduated from Ravenna High school and then attended Conception Seminary in Conception, Missouri and went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska in Kearney, NE where he earned a teaching degree.

On December 29, 1960, Robert married the love of his life, Maymie Flesch (Bolling) in Central City, NE. In 1960, Robert enlisted in the Army and was first stationed in Ft. Benning, Georgia.

Shortly thereafter, Robert was deployed to Korea during the Korean War, and later to Ft. Lewis, WA. After his discharge, he and Maymie moved to San Francisco, CA in 1963.

They later moved from San Francisco to Big Island, HI, where they lived until 1967. After returning to California in 1967, Bob and Maymie moved to Albuquerque, NM, and then Houston, TX before settling in Central City, NE in 1984. Throughout their moves, both Robert and Maymie were very active in the Catholic Church.

In 1994, Robert was ordained as Deacon Robert Joseph Flesch, servingat St. Michaels Catholic Church in Central City, NE until 2014. After moving to Texas, Deacon Robert served in a retired capacity at St. Anthony of Padua in The Woodlands, TX. Deacon Robert Flesch was preceded in death by his Father, Joseph Charles Flesch, Mother, Leona Flesch (Braun), both of Grand Island, NE, and his loving wife Maymie, who passed in December of 2011.

Deacon Robert is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Esther Flesch, and grandchildren Meagan Flesch, Samuel Flesch, and Sophie Flesch, all of The Woodlands, TX. Other survivors include his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry and Fina Flesch of Wichita Falls, TX, his sister Jeanene Lilienthal of Doniphan, NE, and many nieces and nephews.
