Obituary for Gerald Pee Wee Jones Gerald “Pee Wee” Jones, 73, of Central City, Nebraska, died Friday, October 19, 2018 at Merrick Medical Center in Central City. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home with Rev. Josh Erickson officiating.

There will be no visitation. Burial will be in the Central City Cemetery. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.

soltwagnerfuneral.com. Pee Wee was born on June 26 1945 at St Francis Hospital in Grand Island. He attended grade school in Hordville, NE, and graduated from Central City High School in 1963.

After high school, he attended Kearney State College for a short time before he enlisted into the US Army. He attended basic training at Ft Leonardwood, MO, prior to finance school in Indiana. Upon completion of school he was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam war.

Once we made it back stateside he spent time at Ft Carson, CO and Ft Huachuca, AZ before the end of his enlistment. He married Linda Rae Holmes February 7, 1970. To this union were born, Tifani Leigh and Darby Gerald.

Pee Wee’s relationship with Tifani was extra special. She was definitely daddy’s little girl, “his sunshine, his only sunshine”. He tap danced at the Sun Theatre when he was 4.

With him were his brother Gary and the 3 Johnson boys. He enjoyed baseball in his spare time. He was an American legion bat boy before he was old enough to play.

One thing he did for entertainment was to drive off the loading dock at the railroad depot in his Fairlane. As an adult he played softball, both fastpitch and slow pitch for many years until Darby was old enough to play. During Darby’s baseball career, Pee Wee coached him from age 8 through age 12.

During his coaching career he won back-to-back Central City Little League Championships while a coach for the Cards. He was a bookkeeper for his entire professional life. Opening his own business in 1980 at the age of 35 and continued for 35 years.

His work was his passion, Pee Wee loved his job. His family, especially his grandkids, brought him great joy. He is survived by his wife- Linda of Central City, NE; one son- Darby and Robin Jones of Douglas, KS; one brother- Gary and Sharon Jones of Central City, NE; one sister- Karen and Bruce Jensen of Montrose, CO; nine grandchildren.
