Obituary for Alfred A. “Toby” Scott Alfred A. (Toby) Scott was born November 4, 1936 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was the third child of Dennis John (Dink) and Eunice (Losson) Scott. Toby was a member of the Oktaha High School graduating class of 1954.

He met Jackie D. Shoemake, the love of his life, and married on March 3, 1956 in Muskogee. They made their home in Muskogee. His career as an ironworker for National Steel in Muskogee spanned a half a century.

Toby and Jackie spent a great deal of time traveling all over the United States with his job meeting numerous life-long friends along the way. He enjoyed service and membership in the Iron Workers Union Local #584. He was a mentor, role model and friend for many young men starting their careers in the iron working field, especially for his son, Marty.

Toby and Jackie began their family with the arrival of their first child, Leatha Gaye in 1956, followed by Martin Todd in 1960. Toby shared his talents and love of life with each of his four grandchildren, Whitney Lawrence (Zach) of Norman, Lacey Trammell (Jason Orr) of Bixby, Andrea Scott of Oklahoma City, and Chad Scott (Jewelle) of Yukon and ten great-grandchildren, Lane, Jax, Zoe, Lincoln, Toby Len, Brylen, Mazie, Chloe, Liam, and Annalise. He was known as Papa by his grandchildren.

He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was proud of his Cherokee heritage and collected numerous artifacts representing his culture. He called Heaven “the happy hunting ground”.

He welcomed everyone into his home for holiday and family meals, especially the famous fish fries where he shared the fruits of his labor. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Marty. He leaves behind, Jackie, his loving wife of 62 years, his daughter Leatha, his brother, Bob (Berlyne) and sister, Suetta, four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

A family visitation will be 5:30pm-7:30pm, Friday, June 8, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home. Services for Toby will be 10:30A.M., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cardell Coppin officiating.
