Obituary for Carol L. Preston Carol Lee Preston, 75 of Muskogee, passed away late Thursday evening, July 19, 2018. She was born January 9, 1943 in Muskogee to W. L. and Margery Doris (Shaden) Stone. She grew up and attended Muskogee public schools and graduated from Central High School with the class of 1961.

After high school, Carol attended college at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK and Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Her professional career was spent with Oklahoma Rig and Supply. She worked with them for approximately 20 years when she retired in 1999.

After her retirement she enjoyed being a Life Coach for Job Connection, LLC and substitute teaching for Muskogee and Fort Gibson Public Schools. She quickly became a favorite at both places. She learned at an early age that she loved sports!

That continued until the day she went to Heaven. Any kind of sport, including football, tennis, basketball, she thoroughly enjoyed; especially when her grandson, Grayson was playing. Carol also enjoyed her dogs and dancing with Cockle Dance Studio.

She made great friends during the years she danced with the Cockle’s. Her family and friends recall that many times she found homes for fur babies, as she was a member of Coins 4 Critters. On January 11, 1992, she married her best friend, Elvis Aaron Preston, at her home in Muskogee.

Together they have shared over 26 years of marriage together. Carol is a member of the Fort Gibson Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, W. L. “Bill” Stone and Margery Stone; and mom Beulah Stone.

(After losing her mom when she was a teenager, Beulah spent lots of time with Carol and she always felt fortunate to have two moms). Carol is survived by her husband, Elvis Preston of the home; her son, Darrin Smith and his wife Jill of Fort Gibson; her grandson, Grayson Smith of Fort Gibson; special cousins, Tom Crane of Duncan, OK and Cherry Sallee of Colorado; other family members and many friends who will miss her.
