Alice Louise Jones September 4, 1917 – November 18, 2018 Alice was born to Lydia and Ben Monn in Quincy, Pennsylvania in the farmhouse across from the present Twin Kiss ice cream shop. She and her husband, Bill, farmed and gardened near Fayetteville for 53 years. Alice was Mom to Ben and his wife Jane, Grandma to BJ, Carrie and her husband, Garry, and Great Grandma to CJ and Carly.

She was Sister to Walter, Gilson, Milton, Eugene, Betty and Roy and their spouses Jane, Arlene, Thelma, Grace, Jim Watkins and Jeanne. She was Aunt, Great Aunt, Cousin and Friend to many. Alice graduated in 1935 from Quincy High School and was a Franklin County All-Star basketball player.

She worked for many years as a seamstress at the Waynesboro Knitting Mill and Stanley Manufacturing Company in Chambersburg. Alice sang in the choir and taught Sunday School at Otterbein United Methodist Church in Fayetteville. Alice never missed her grandchildren’s concerts and sporting events.

She loved watching sports, especially the Phillies, Duke basketball – where she attended a game when she was 85-and, golf, where she was a fan of Phil Mickelson. Alice was always ready to go, whether to visit her grandson in New York City where she pushed her way to the front row to watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade at Columbus Circle, or to Bucknell University to watch her granddaughter’s basketball games. A Funeral Service to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at 11am with a 10am viewing, Wednesday, November 21 at the Kelso Cornelius Funeral Home in Chambersburg with burial at Mount Pleasant Cemetery near Scotland.

The service will be officiated by the Reverend Sherri Miller, chaplain at SpiriTrust Lutheran, the Village at Gettysburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church, 63 West Main Street, Fayetteville, PA 17222.
