Obituary for Alice M. Schemonia Alice M. Schemonia, 64, of Murphysboro, passed away at 4:12 p.m. on Monday, January 15, 2018, in Murphysboro. Alice was born on November 20, 1953, in Murphysboro, a daughter to the late Elmer A. Sr. and Nancy L. (Followell) Hill. She was united in marriage to Glenn L. “Chuck” Schemonia Jr. on November 19, 1983, in Murphysboro.

Together they drove a semi over the road and eventually owned and operated Chuck and Al’s Mobile Repair. Chuck preceded her in death on February 28, 2011. Alice was a member of the Berean Christian Church in Murphysboro and the American Legion Paul Stout Post 127 Auxiliary and I.B.E.W.

702. For over 15 years, she worked in ophthalmology and dermatology as a medical-surgical assistant. She took a temporary position with G.T.E./ Verizon/ Frontier in hopes of going back to school.

After 20 years with the phone company she was able to retire and go back to school when the office closed. She concluded her working career at Southern Illinois University Carbondale Family medicine. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 19, 2018, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro.

Rev. Troy Humphrey of the Berean Christian Church will officiate; burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Memorial Park near Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to the Berean Christian Church. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Laurie and Bob Neef of Murphysboro; one son and his fiancé, Jason Smith and Christen Fink of Murphysboro; three grandchildren, Hunter and Savannah Neef and Griffen Peterson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Joe Hanna of Hurst, IL, Karen and Jim Heininger of Murphysboro, IL; one brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Sue Ann Hill of Maricopa, AZ; mother-in-law, Cora Schemonia of Pomona, IL; uncle Orville Followell of Murphysboro; three sisters-in-law, Jane Pinkston of Murphysboro, Brenda (Bob) Marfio of Murphysboro, and Doris (Drew) Stetson of Duluth, MN; four brothers-in-law, Larry (Tammy) Schemonia of Alto Pass, IL, John (Beverly) Schemonia of Pomona, IL, Frank (Pam) Schemonia of Murphysboro and Andy Schemonia of Murphysboro. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins, and her faithful canine companion Dusty “Ms. Sassy”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandparents, several aunts and uncles, father-in-law Glenn Schemonia, one sister-in-law Nancy (Schemonia) King, three brothers-in-law, Butch Pinkston, Kenny Schemonia and Jimmie Schemonia.
