Andrew James Ray, a.k.a. “Felonious Bob”, 57, passed away November 20th 2018 in the comfort of his own home. Andrew was born to Jack Zane Ray and Nancy Patricia Ray in Redford, MI in 1961. He grew up with his younger brother Ted in Southfield, who matched not only his wit and refulness, but his tenacity for mischievousness.
Andrew entered the Air Force in 1980 and began an adventure of a lifetime. After completing his tenure in K.I. Sawyer AFB, Andrew was stationed at Kunsan AB, Korea, thus solidifying the trajectory of his incredible life. Living off-base in Korea lead to his heart being captured by the landlord’s daughter.
Braving the peril of her three protective older brothers, he began his pursuit of her hand in marriage. Andy charmed the Yim family and married the love of his life and soulmate Jeong Hee in 1985. After leaving the United States Air Force, Andy and Jeong Hee traveled the world together and intersected paths with lifelong friends.
December of 1989, Jasmine Song Ray opened her eyes for the first time to a powerful parenting team of East and West. The family would be completed by the entry of Brenton Jones Ray in March of 1992. Venturing West, the Ray family then created a new home base in Layton, Utah (1999) amongst a community of friends.
In the new settlement, Andrew was able to reconnect with friends and family, watch his children become adults, and pursue his dreams. Andrew’s expertise within the field of flight simulation was the foundation of his career; beginning with the B-52 trainer at K.I. Sawyer, to over 30 years of experience coordinating with pilots of the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Andy loved spending his time stargazing, watching lightning storms, and developing innovative (albeit mildly insane) ideas in his garage workshop.
His infamous sense of humor drew attention from everyone as he was a natural entertainer. His love of traditions came in many forms, including his well-known Halloween spider cookies. Andrew is survived by his loving wife, Jeong Hee, his two children, Jasmine and Brenton, his sister, Ashley, and his stepmother, Kathy.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy, his father, Jack, and his brother Ted. Andrew and the Ray family would like to thank everyone for all the memories, love, and support throughout an exciting, fulfilling, and blessed life. “You know what’s werid?
Day by day, nothing seems to change, but pretty soon…everything’s different”. -(Calvin and Hobbs) Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary1867 No. Fairfield Road, Layton, Utah.
