Andrew Raymond Ciaburri of Middletown died peacefully on October 25, 2018 in Wadsworth Glen Nursing Home with his daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and niece by his side. He was the devoted husband of the late Lois Cimino Ciaburri. Andrew was born in New Haven on April 8, 1933 to the late August Ciaburri and Phyllis Simeoli Galba and also was the stepson of the late Anthony Galba.

He graduated from Hillhouse High School and was a co-captain, a high scorer and among the stars of the 1950-1951 basketball season. Andy worked hard for his family as a heavy equipment operator at Southern Connecticut Gas retiring in 1995. He was a kind and generous man who had tremendous love for his pets and all animals, and he was always the life of the party.

He was a loving father to Andrea (John) Herlth and brother of Robert (Barbara) Galba. He adored his granddaughter Korrine “Korey” Herlth, and there was no doubt she was the light of his life. Andrew lived at Wadsworth Glen for the past 4 years, and he and Lois lived with John, Andrea, and Korrine prior to that.

The Family would like to thank and acknowledge the entire staff at Wadsworth for their care, love, and support. We especially want to thank Dorothy, Leslie, Peggy, Kendra, Deb and Brendan, his nurses, and Carla, his beloved Aide, along with Fruita, Crystal, Peter, and Lisa. Truly there are so many wonderful people at Wadsworth who loved Andrew we could not list them all.

When he was living in Higganum with his family, he had a special caregiver and friend, Susan Young. He leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who have such fond memories and Uncle Andy stories to share! Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday morning October 30th at 10am in St. Colman Church 145 Hubbard Street, Middlefield, CT.

Burial will be private. The Iovanne Funeral Home, Inc. is in care of his arrangements. To send flowers or a remembrance gift to the family of Andrew Ciaburri, please visit our Tribute Store.
